Schumacher won the race thanks to the superior power of the BMW.
Michael Schumacher starting from pole finished second after Ralf
passed him in the pits. Mika Hakkinen finished in 3rd after starting from 8th while Kimi Raikkonen managed to finish 4th in his debut race at Canada. Alesi finishes in the points for the Prost team for the second race in a row. Pedro de la Rosa finished in the points for the first time in the season. David Coulthard starting from 3rd retired with engine problems. Rubens Barrichello and Juan Pablo Montoya crash out of the race. 11 cars were classified as finishers. The first 5 finished on the same lap. Prost and Jordan has both of their cars classified at the end of the race. BAR and Benetton failed to finish either of their cars. |

Schumacher won the race for the 4th time in his career ahead of
Rubens Barrichello. Giancarlo Fisichella finishes on the podium for the 4th time in a row. David Coulthard gets a 10-second stop-go penalty for failing to get away in time at the formation lap. Michael Schumacher struggles towards the end of the race but Rubens Barrichello stays behind him. The race was run under dry then wet conditions. 13 cars finished the race with 10 of them on the same lap. Ferrari, McLaren, and Benetton finished both of their cars. The Prost team failed to finish either of their cars. |
