55 min: Michael Schumacher clips the wall on the final turn and may have damaged his car. He pits.

53 min: Rubens Barrichello takes second back with a time of 1:17.434. 

52 min: Michael improves again with a time of 1:16.991. That is very fast. Fisichella moves into second with a time of 1:18.173. 

51 min: Eddie Irvine takes 9th with a time of 1:19.132. It appears that a number of teams are choosing to run on lighter fuel loads today!

50 min: Michael Schumacher fails to improve but Panis moves into 3rd with a time of 1:18.349.

49 min: David Coulthard moves into 10th with a time of 1:19.213. Panis on a flyer!

48 min: Michael Schumacher on the track and looks set to improve his time!

47 min: Olivier Panis moves into 6th with a time of 1:18.721. Is the new BAR package that better or is he also on a lighter fuel ?

46 min: Enrique Bernoldi stops on the track. He is currently in 10th place.

45 min: Mark Webber jumps into 12th! with a time of 1:20.021. He is just behind Coulthard. He must be on a light fuel load.

44 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Frentzen, Barrichello, Montoya, Trulli, Heidfeld, Panis, R Schumacher, Bernoldi and Massa.

43 min: Amazing! Frentzen goes second with a time of 1:18.340.  

41 min: Heinz Harald Frentzen takes 6th with a time of 1:18.845. Where are the Jaguar ? de la Rosa in 16th and Irvine in 19th!. 

41 min: Jarno Trulli moves into 4th with a time of 1:18.708. Trulli managed to put the Jordan 4th on the grid last year. 

40 min: Juan Pablo Montoya goes 3rd with a time of 1:18.437. Frentzen moves into 9th. Only Button has yet to set a competitive time.

33 min: Kimi Raikkonen moves into 6th. Now we have Ferrari, Williams and McLaren in the top 6!

32 min: Michael Schumacher improves slightly at the top of the timesheets.

31 min: Enrique Bernoldi and Jenson Button have yet to set competitive lap times.

30 min: Rubens Barrichello improves again with a time of 1:18.418.

29 min: The lap times are expected to be faster than last year as the track has been modified slightly.

28 min: Rubens Barrichello improves his time but remains in second with a time of 1:18.884.

27 min: Michael Schumacher improves again with a 1:17.946. He is over 1.2 seconds faster than anyone else!. Montoya moves into 4th with a time of 1:19.518.

12 min: Yoong improves with a 1:26.877. Lets see what time his team-mate Webber sets.

11 min: Felipe Massa and Mark Webber are back out on the track. They are followed by Allan McNish. All are rookies!

9 min: Alex Yoong's first time is a 1:28.576. That is almost 10 seconds slower than the best time set here on this session last year. He need to do a lot better than that!

8 min: Alex Yoong starts his flying lap. Meanwhile Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya have yet to appear. A lot of people are expecting a good fight between these two this weekend.

7 min: Alex Yoong is the first to go back out on the track. He needs as much experience as he can here.

5 min: BAR are introducing a new package here in Canada which they hope will help them score points. Barrichello on the track. No lap times set yet.

4 min: The cars are now back in the pits. The 2 Ferraris have yet to go out though.

2 min: Several cars are now on the track for their installation lap.

Session underway and Eddie Irvine is the first to go out on the track.

Last year Williams BMW had a power advantage on this track. It will be interesting to see how they will compare against Ferrari this year. Session starting in 2 minutes.
