Panis, Massa, Button, Irvine, Sato, de la Rosa, Bernoldi, Salo, Frentzen, McNish, Webber and Yoong make the rest of the field.

49 min: Michael Schumacher starts his 3 run and at the first sector is slower than Montoya!

48 min: The track temperature is dropping and that could explain the reason for the drivers not improving.

47 min: Ralf Schumacher doesn't improve while Montoya aborts his run and pits!

43 min: Eddie Irvine in 21st is the only driver to have completed just 1 run. All others have completed 2 runs.

42 min: Rubens Barrichello moves into 3rd with a time of 1:13.280. Panis moves into 10th with a time of 1:14.713.

41 min: Michael Schumacher improves into second with a time of 1:13.114. He is 0.278 seconds behind Montoya.

40 min: Trulli hits the wall. He is OK but his car is damaged. He is 9th at this stage.

38 min: The 2 Ferraris are on the track as well for their second run.

37 min: Villeneuve and Trulli are also on track. They too have only completed 1 run.

36 min: Mark Webber is up in 18th ahead of Panis, Irvine, Frentzen but those three have only done 1 run against 2 for Webber. Yoong is in 22nd.

35 min: Top 10 - Montoya, R Schumacher, M Schumacher, Barrichello, Raikkonen, Heidfeld, Coulthard, Fisichella, Trulli and Massa.

34 min: Coulthard aborted his run due to the Sato incident.

32 min: Takuma Sato moves into 11th with a time of 1:14.940 but then blows his engine!

31 min: Kimi Raikkonen takes 5th from Heidfeld with a time of 1:14.018.

30 min: Felipe Massa takes 10th from Pedro de la Rosa.

29 min: Kimi Raikkonen back on the track for his second run and so is Fisichella.

28 min: Nick Heidfeld moves into 5th with a time of 1:14.139 while Pedro de la Rosa is up in 10th!

27 min: Ralf Schumacher moves into second with a time of 1:13.301 just ahead of Michael Schumacher.

26 min: Montoya is faster on the second split and he takes provisional pole with a time of 1:12.836!

25 min: The 2 Williams are back on the track for their second run. This time Montoya then Ralf.

7 min: BAR are using a heavily revised car here, the first under Geoff Willis, the new Technical Director. Despite a promising performance at all the practice sessions, Jacques Villeneuve doesn't expect to qualify in the top 10!. Still no cars on the track.

5 min: The track temperature is currently at 25 degrees. Still no cars on the track.

1 min: Unlike other qualifying sessions, we may see action early in the session as there is a chance of rain and the drivers would want to put in a 'banker' lap just in case.

This morning Michael Schumacher was the fastest man on the track 0.25 seconds ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya. Rubens Barrichello was 3rd 0.8 seconds behind Michael although his session was cut short after crashing early on. Ralf Schumacher was 4th over a second off the pace.
