First Saturday Practice Session Report - ResultsMichael Schumacher continues his
domination of the practice sessions at the Hungarian GP after setting the
fastest time of the third practice session. His team-mate Rubens
Barrichello was not too far behind with Mika Hakkinen in third place.
David Coulthard who missed the second practice session looked strong at
the start of the session but ended up in 4th place and 0.7 seconds off the
pace. There were no major incidents during the session. There weren't many spins as compared to the numerous spins yesterday and that was mainly due to the slippery nature of the circuit on Fridays when it is lacking grip. Fernando Alonso covered the most number of laps with 18 followed by Heinz Harald Frentzen and Eddie Irvine both with 15 laps each. Kimi Raikkonen only managed 5 laps while Jenson Button and Tarso Marques only did 6 laps. All other drivers covered between 7 and 14 laps. Jean Alesi was over half a second behind his team-mate Jarno Trulli while Frentzen appeared to struggle in the Prost in 17th place although he was almost 2 seconds faster than his team-mate Luciano Burti. The 2 Williams were the only Michelin runners in the top 10 but with the increase in temperature and the added grip, the Michelin tyres are expected to perform better during the second session and during Qualifying.
