Championship Second Saturday Practice Session Report - ResultsMichael Schumacher remained at the top of the timesheets in the second session despite not improving his time. Rubens Barrichello and David Coulthard got very close to his time from the first session. The Sauber pair were very impressive managing to move into 4th and 5th places ahead of Jarno Trulli in the Jordan. Panis was 7th ahead of Hakkinen. Ralf Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve make the top 10. Following this session, the top 5 are covered by under 0.4 seconds, the top 10 are covered by under 1 second and the top 12 by under 2 seconds. It is clear that Prost, Arrows, Jaguar, Benetton and Minardi are way off the pace here. It is hard to read into these times though as several drivers didn't improve in their times including Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen and Heinz Harald Frentzen. They could be running a different program or have already found the ideal setup and don't need to show their cards. We will certainly know more come qualifying. Luciano Burti in the Prost covered the most number of laps with 17. Pedro de la Rosa only covered 1 lap before he crashed into the pitlane wall while Tarso Marques is struggling having only covered 3 laps this session and his time is outside the 107% time required for qualifying. Heinz Harald Frentzen only managed 8 laps while most other drivers covered between 10 and 15 laps. Qualifying could bring a few surprises as Sauber who are usually between 9th and 12th appear to be a lot stronger here.
