Session over with Michael Schumacher fastest ahead of Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard. Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli and Heinz Harald Frentzen make the top 6.

45 min: No driver improves on their final lap.

43 min: Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard are now on the track for their final run in this session.

41 min: Jacques Villeneuve improves his time but remains in 11th just behind his team-mate.

40 min: 5 minutes to go and no improvements. Most of the drivers will now go out on their final run of the session.

38 min: Eddie Irvine improves to 12th still over 2.6 seconds off the pace.

37 min: Very few cars are improving, the drivers continue testing different setting without improving their overall times.

35 min: Only 10 minutes to go in this 45 minute session and Olivier Panis had now covered the most number of laps so far with 12. Fernando Alonso appears in trouble with only 4 laps covered.

34 min: Top 10 remains - M Schumacher, Hakkinen, Coulthard, Barrichello, Trulli, Frentzen, Heidfeld, Raikkonen, R Schumacher and Panis.

33 min: Mika Hakkinen fails to improve on his time as he goes through the gravel. Michael Schumacher on track.

32 min: Michael Schumacher has only covered 4 laps so far yet he is the fastest so far.

31 min: Both McLarens are on the track. Marques has covered the most number of laps so far with 11 but he is still last and outside the 107% mark.

30 min: Ralf Schumacher goes out on the track while Fisichella improves in 18th place.

28 min: At this stage BAR are 10th and 11th and Jaguar are 13th and 15th. Sauber continue to impress in 7th and 8th at this stage.

27 min: Just a few drivers are on track at the moment. Marques improves his time but remains last over 6 seconds off the pace and outside the 107% mark!

26 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Hakkinen, Coulthard, Barrichello, Trulli, Frentzen, Heidfeld, Raikkonen, R Schumacher and Panis.

25 min: At the moment Michael Schumacher is 0.65 seconds ahead of Mika Hakkinen in second place.

24 min: Jean Alesi is the last driver to clock a time as he moves into 16th place. Irvine improves his time but is still in 13th place. 

24 min: So far the top 10 drivers have beaten Michael Schumacher's pole time of last year!

23 min: Eddie Irvine moves into 13th place while Jarno Trulli jumps into 5th.

22 min: Rubens Barrichello improves with a time of 1:19.363 equalling Coulthard's time!!

21 min: Eddie Irvine and Jean Alesi have just come out to set their first time of the day. Jarno Trulli has yet to set a time.

20 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Hakkinen, Coulthard, Barrichello, Frentzen, Heidfeld, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Panis and Villeneuve.

18 min: Ralf Schumacher goes into 7th place while Heinz Harald Frentzen moves into 5th.

17 min: Juan Pablo Montoya moves into 8th place while Barrichello is in 4th.

17 min: Michael Schumacher moves into first and the first to clock a time under the 1:19 with a time of 1:18.634. Stunning!

16 min: Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya go out onto the track.

15 min: Top 10 - Hakkinen, Coulthard, Heidfeld, Raikkonen, Panis, Villeneuve, de la Rosa, Verstappen, Burti and Fisichella. A number of drivers have yet to set a time including the 2 Ferraris, Williams and Jordans.

14 min: Mika Hakkinen goes even better with a time of 1:18.281.

13 min: David Coulthard goes fastest and is the first to clock a time below 1:20 with a time of 1:19.363.

12 min: Nick Heidfeld goes fastest with a time of 1:20.042. That is faster than Coulthard's time yesterday!

11 min: Olivier Panis goes fastest with a time of 1:21.201.

10 min: Alonso sets a time of 1:23.956 while Marques sets a 1:25.455.

9 min: Jos Verstappen sets the first timed lap of the session with a time of 1:22.683. Villeneuve and de la Rosa go out as well.

8 min: Fernando Alonso goes out onto the track as well.

7 min: Jos Verstappen and Tarso Marques are out to set their first flying laps.

5 min: Barrichello finally goes out on his installation lap.

4 min: All the cars are back in the pits. No activity on the track.

3 min: Both Jordan's go out and only Barrichello has yet to do his shakedown lap.

2 min: Mika Hakkinen goes out on his installation lap.

2 min: The cars start streaming back into the pits.

1 min: David Coulthard goes out while Barrichello and Hakkinen have yet to go out.

1 min: Kimi Raikkonen is the first to go out on his installation lap followed by most of the field.

The temperature  is 13 degrees with a few clouds in the sky. It is windy and a few teams have complained about the windy conditions affecting their cars more than others. Session starting in 2 minutes.

Several teams where evaluating the type of tyre they were going to use for qualifying and the race. Both Bridgestone and Michelin have two compounds on offer. Michael Schumacher covered a high number of laps trying to determine which tyre will suit best. Session starting in 5 minutes.

David Coulthard dominated both sessions yesterday an the closest anyone got to his time was Rubens Barrichello in the first session over 0.4 seconds behind. Session starting in 10 minutes.
