Warm-up Session Report - ResultsRalf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya continue to dominate at the German Grand Prix with Ralf just 0.03 ahead of Montoya however their lead was not as huge as we saw from qualifying yesterday. David Coulthard was 3rd fastest just 0.122 seconds behind while Michael Schumacher in 4th was 0.126 seconds off the pace. Rubens Barrichello and Mika Hakkinen made the top 6. Nick Heidfeld was 7th while Enrique Bernoldi seemingly on a lighter fuel load was 8th ahead of Villeneuve and Panis making up the top 10. There was drama for several drivers as
Jarno Trulli suffered an engine blow-out for the second time this weekend
and had to use the spare car for what remained of the session. Ricardo
Zonta made a mistake and crashed his car in the tyre barrier not giving
himself much of a chance to race for Jordan beyond Hockenheim. Fernando
Alonso also spun out and into the tyre barrier while Pedro de la Rosa
suffered a technical problem and stopped on the track. Giancarlo Fisichella covered the most number of laps with 15 followed by Coulthard, Villeneuve, Irvine, Alesi and Burti with 14 laps each. Ricardo Zonta covered just 3 laps before crashing, Jenson Button only managed 4 laps while Juan Pablo Montoya only covered 6 laps. All other drivers covered between 8 and 13 laps. Both Coulthard and Michael Schumacher are much closer to the Williams than they were yesterday however the cooler weather conditions could have disadvantaged the Michelin tyres. It does appear that the top 6 cars will be running on a similar strategy. The race appears set to be a duel between
the 2 Williams' drivers with the Ferrari and McLaren drivers fighting it
out and hoping the Williams' cars run into trouble.
