Championship Warm-up Session Report - ResultsMichael Schumacher dominated the warm-up session
setting a time that was over half a second faster than his team-mate Rubens
Barrichello however the surprise of the session were the Honda runners whom
with the exception of Villeneuve managed to take 3 out of the top 6 places
with Fisichella in 3rd, Panis in 4th and Sato in 5th and they were not that
far off the pace. Now Honda did introducing the latest spec engine here and
Fisichella and Panis did well in qualifying yesterday but it is more than
likely that they were running low fuel loads as they simulate their pit stop
strategy. There were no major incidents during the session however Ralf Schumacher, Heinz Harald Frentzen and Jarno Trulli all had big spins but managed to recover from them. Giancarlo Fisichella covered the most number of laps with 17 followed by Rubens Barrichello with 16. Juan Pablo Montoya covered just 8 laps while David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen only did 10 laps. Weather conditions were fine with air temperature reaching 23 degrees. It is expected to reach 28 degrees around race time and that will make things interesting particularly with the tyre situation. It seems as if most the Bridgestone runners will be going for a 2 stop strategy while the Michelin runners will only stop once. In any case, it seems that we'll have an interesting race! Race starts at 2:00 PM local time. Our coverage starts at 1:30 PM local time.
