Once again Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello
dominate however Williams appear to have closed the gap with Montoya in 3rd
and just over half a second off the pace and Ralf Schumacher in 4th just
behind his team-mate.
Coutlhard only managed 5th and is over 1.3 seconds behind Michael. What is
interesting that neither Coulthard nor Raikkonen (who is back in 13th) managed
to better their times from yesterday and that seems to indicate that their
times yesterday were set with low fuel loads.
McLaren aren't alone there, the Jaguar pair failed to improve on their times
and neither did Frentzen, McNish and Yoong!
The session didn't have many incidents but almost every
drivers suffered a spin. Jenson Button had an engine failure while Barrichello
went off and hit the barriers on his final lap of the session.
Just 3 Michelin runners out of the top 12. With the cold
temperatures that isn't unexpected!
Olivier Panis covered the most number of laps with 19
followed by both Alex Yoong and Mark Webber with 18 laps each. Nick Heidfeld
covered the least amount of laps with 6 while Raikkonen only managed 9 laps.
With the temperatures going up throughout the day, expect
the Michelin runners to start having the advantage over the Bridgestones.
