Session Report - Results
Michael Schumacher and
Ferrari continue to dominate at San Marino whatever the conditions. Rubens
Barrichello was a close second with the McLaren pair not too far behind.
The Jordan pair were next in
5th and 6th followed by the Sauber pair in 7th and 8th. The
BAR pair were next although Juan Pablo Montoya managed to split them!
Luciano Burti crashed on his
2nd lap out damaging his car and ending his session while several drivers
spun but managed to recover.
Jarno Trulli covered the most number of laps with 17 followed by Michael
Schumacher and Fernando Alonso with 15. Burti only managed two laps while
Ralf Schumacher only managed 8 laps. Most other drivers covered between 9
and 14 laps.
The conditions were cold and
wet, it was not raining though but the track was drying very slowly as the
temperature was just 5 degrees!. These conditions don't appear to suite
the Michelin tyres as all of their runners were off the pace and that
includes Williams.
The conditions should get
better in the second session.
