42 min: Top 10 - Michael Schumacher ahead of Rubens Barrichello and David Coulthard. Raikkonen, Frentzen, Heidfeld, R Schumacher, Panis, Hakkinen and Alesi make the top 10.

41 min: Heinz Harald Frentzen moves into 4th with a time of 1:32.164. Barrichello is now in 2nd place.

39 min: Juan Pablo Montoya is in 20th place. He improved slightly running on dry tyres.

38 min: Heidfeld and Frentzen both spin but recover. 

37 min: Michael Schumacher goes fastest with a time of 1:30.737. Nick Heidfeld moves into 3rd. 

36 min: Eddie Irvine and Juan Pablo Montoya go out on dry tyres, the first to do so.  

35 min: Olivier Panis moves into 5th while Enrique Bernoldi moves to 12th. 

34 min: David Coulthard goes fastest with a time of 1:31.536. 

32 min: Michael Schumacher goes fastest with a time of 1:31.890. 

30 min: 15 minutes to go and it is Ralf Schumacher ahead of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. Raikkonen, Hakkinen, Heidfeld, Alesi, Villeneuve, Coulthard and Panis make the top 10.  

28 min: Michael Schumacher moves into 2nd place with a time of 1:33.182.

27 min: Kimi Raikkonen improves to 3rd!

26 min: Rubens Barrichello moves into 2nd place with a time of 1:33.421. Michael Schumacher goes out on the track

25 min: Kimi Raikkonen and Nick Heidfeld move into 3rd and 4th!

24 min: Ralf Schumacher goes fastest with a time of 1:33.025!

23 min: Olivier Panis moves into 4th with a time of 1:34.970.

22 min: Top 10 - Mika Hakkinen ahead of Jacques Villeneuve and David Coulthard. M Schumacher, Barrichello, Panis, Frentzen, Trulli, R Schumacher and Raikkonen make the top 10.  

21 min: Jacques Villeneuve moves into 2nd place!. The track must be drying.

20 min: Mika Hakkinen goes fastest with a time of 1:34.036. Coulthard moves into 2nd while Panis moves into 5th.

18 min: Coulthard retakes 4th place from Frentzen with a time of 1:36.038 

17 min: Nick Heidfeld spins but recovers. 

16 min: Jean Alesi moves into 9th place. 

14 min: Not many improvements at this stage. The track is still damp and the low temperature won't help 

12 min: Ralf Schumacher moves up to 7th while Fisichella isn't doing too bad in 11th. 

10 min: Top 10 - Michael Schumacher ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Mika Hakkinen. Frentzen, Coulthard, Trulli, Raikkonen, Ralf Schumacher, Heidfeld and Panis make the top 10.  

9 min: Ralf Schumacher is now in 10th place and the best Michelin runner. Montoya is close behind.

8 min: Olivier Panis moves into 7th from 11.

6 min: Mika Hakkinen fails to improve while Frentzen, Montoya and Ralf Schumacher all improve marginally

5 min: Mika Hakkinen on a fast lap.

4 min: Tarso Marques improves to 18th place he then spun but recovered.

3 min: Jean Alesi immediately improves to 10th place. Both Schumacher's go out on track.

2 min: Alonso, Marques and Hakkinen all go out. The track is drying and most drivers are using intermediate tyres.

Session starts and Jean Alesi is the first to go out. He is in 20th place.

Ferrari continued their domination but McLaren were not very far behind. Williams appear to be struggling but that seems to be as a result of the Michelin tyres - Session starting in 2 minutes
