Championship Second Saturday Practice Session Report - ResultsDavid Coulthard put in a very fast lap in the last minutes of the practice session to record the fastest time of the day (1.27.540). Michael Schumacher posted the second fastest lap of the day (1.27.561) seconds before slowing and pulling off the track with a sick Ferrari. Barrichello did not get a chance to do even one lap as the mechanics were frantically replacing the engine that blew in the first free practice session, earlier today. One must wonder if this is the end of Ferrari's claim to have reliability on their side. At present both cars are being worked on and only the T-car is ready for qualifying. Qualifying could be fun if there is only one car for two drivers. 16 cars were faster than last years pole time of 1:30.556 set by Hakkinen. If the changes in the formula were intended to slow the cars, it certainly failed. The cars are faster than ever before. Jordan seem faster than BAR with Frentzen 4th fastest and Trulli 5th fastest and Ralf Schumacher showed Montoya that experience counts when it matters by being 6 places ahead of him and just over 1/2 second faster. David Coulthard covered the most number of laps followed by Hakkinen and Raikkone with 17 each. Rubens Barrichello didn't do any lap, Gaston Mazzacane and Jos Verstappen only covered 2 laps while Michael Schumacher and Tarso Marques only managed 3 laps each.
