the start of the race Ralf Schumacher hits the back of Rubens
Barrichello, the incident causes a pile-up at the first corner but
the race isn't restarted and 8 cars retire. Michael Schumacher wins the race with Juan Pablo Montoya in second with Kimi Raikkonen in 3rd. Only 8 cars managed to finish the race. Minardi and Jaguar managed to finish both their cars. Renault, BAR, Arrows, Sauber and Jordan failed to finish either of their cars . |

1. | Michael Schumacher - Ferrari | Ferrari,
Sauber, and Jaguar managed to finish both cars. Williams were the only team that neither car failed to finish. Only 13 cars managed to cross the finish line. The lap times have dropped by more than 2 seconds a lap as a result of competing tyre manufacturers. Jacques Villeneuve hits the back of Ralf Schumacher on lap 5 at high speed and crashes into the retaining wall. He is not hurt but a safety marshal is killed by flying debris. Olivier Panis finishes 4th but is penalised 25 seconds for passing under yellow flags. He is classified 7th. |
