Championship First Saturday Practice Session Report - ResultsRubens Barrichello set the fastest time of the session and 0.314 seconds ahead of his team-mate Michael Schumacher. Kimi Raikkonen was 3rd ahead of a surprise Jenson Button with Ralf Schumacher making the top 6. The times were a lot closer today (relative to yesterday) with a second separating the top 5 and 2 seconds separating the top 7. Jenson Button managed to squeeze himself with the top 3 teams. It remains to be seen whether he will stay up there or if his fuel loads where light. His team-mate Trulli only managed 12th fastest. Kimi Raikkonen continues to outpace his more experienced team-mate and Felipe Massa managed to go faster than his team-mate. However it is qualifying that really counts. Mark Webber doesn't appear to be comfortable on this track finishing in 21st and over a second slower than his team-mate. There were no incidents during the session however Frentzen didn't manage any timed laps this session. Coulthard, Panis and Irvine covered the most number of laps with 14 while Michael Schumacher only did 6 laps and Montoya, Heidfeld and Bernoldi just managed 7 laps each. In the tyre battle, the top 2 are on Bridgestones and the 6 cars behind are Michelins. Given the the temperatures are still rising, the Michelins runners may have the edge.
