Championship Second Friday Practice Session Report - ResultsKimi Raikkonen sets the fastest time of the session ahead of David Coulthard and Michael Schumacher. Rubens Barrichello, Ralf Schumacher and Jenson Button make the top 6. The McLarens this session were surprisingly quicker than the
Ferraris. At one stage during the session they were over 0.8 seconds faster
than anyone else but Michael Schumacher managed to close the gap and get to
within two tenths of Raikkonen's time. Behind the top 3 there is a gap of over
a second to Rubens Barrichello and Ralf Schumacher. However, Barrichello spun
out of the session towards the end of the session. Michelin have demonstrated their superiority this session with 10 out of the top 10 cars on Michelin tyres and including 1st and 2nd places. Villeneuve in 13th was the best running Bridgestone behind the Ferraris. A number of drivers went off but managed to recover, not Barrichello though who spun off towards the end of the session. Mark Webber and Takuma Sato had mechanical problems and stopped during the session. Ralf Schumacher and Anthony Davidson covered the most number of laps with 21 laps followed by Jarno Trulli and Allan McNish with 20 laps each. Mark Webber covered the least number of laps with 5, Olivier Panis only managed 8 laps while Eddie Irvine only managed 10 laps. With Michelin's improved performance here, it looks like we'll have a close weekend ahead.
