Championship Second Saturday Practice Session Report - ResultsMichael Schumacher remained at the top of the
timesheets following the session even though he didn't improve on his time set
in the first session. Kimi Raikkonen set the second fastest time and only
0.021 seconds behind Michael while David Coulthard managed 3rd and 0.275
seconds off the pace. The increased track temperature meant that the Michelin runners started to gain an advantage over the Bridgestones. 7 of the top 10 were on Michelin tyres. Giancarlo Fisichella had a major accident during the
session. He lost his front wing, lost control of the car and went straight
into the tyre wall. He got out of his car but was sent to the local hospital
for a routine check but it is expected that he will make it for Qualifying. Felipe Massa covered the most number of laps with 22 while
Pedro de la Rosa and Alex Yoong managed 21 laps each. Takuma Sato only covered
5 laps as the team investigated the reason for his team-mate's front wing
failure. Fisichella only managed 6 laps before crashing. With the 2 McLarens fighting back, the 2 Ferraris failing to improve and Williams making another step forward, it looks like we'll have a close Qualifying today and who knows, the Renaults might get involved too! Qualifying starts at 1:00 PM local time. Our coverage starts at 12:45 PM local time.
