Michael Schumacher sets a stunning lap in the dying
seconds of the session, a lap that was almost a full second faster than anyone
else. Rubens Barrichello in second and Ralf Schumacher in 3rd were the only
drivers who were around a second behind. Juan Pablo Montoya in 4th was almost
1.6 seconds off the pace while Nick Heidfeld in 5th was over 2 second off the
pace.
Behind Heidfeld, it is pretty close, Raikkonen is 6th ahead of Massa, Button,
Coulthard and Trulli and they are less than half a second apart.
There were no major incidents during the session. Only a few
spins were all the drivers managed to recover. Pedro de la Rosa had problems
and managed to set a non-competitive time.
Mika Salo covered the most number of laps with 18 followed
by Takuma Sato wityh 17 and Allan McNish with 16. Pedro de la Rosa only
managed 3 laps.
At this stage, it appears that the Ferraris are in front
with Williams a bit behind. While the battle intensifies between McLaren, Renault
and Sauber.
