Second Friday Practice Session Report - ResultsJean Alesi sets the fastest time of
the day over half a second faster than Juan Pablo Montoya. Pedro de la
Rosa was third ahead of Hakkinen, Frentzen and Irvine. The top 6 is certainly unusual but it is
expected that most of those times were set with low fuel loads. Nick Heidfeld suffered a massive crash
which forced the session to be stopped. He was OK. It was the second big
accident today with Tomas Enge suffering a big one in the morning session. Juan Pablo Montoya covered the most number of laps this session with 24 while Enge didn't participate in the session as his car was being repaired while Nick Heidfeld only covered 8 laps before his crash. Overall for the day, Montoya covered the most number of laps with 44 followed by Irvine with 42. Tomas Enge covered the least number of laps with 18 while Nick Heidfeld covered 20 laps. Friday times are not indicative of how the grid will be tomorrow but it appears that the Michelin tyres are good and Montoya appears to be enjoying this track. The session was run under mainly sunny skies and a temperature of 23 degrees.
