I am very disappointed in Toyota's performance over the last two seasons.
Given their budget and racing experience they should be in the top 4 or 5
teams. Maybe they will get it together next year, but I am not going to hold
my breath. The Heretic replies: Hi Jeff, Nice to hear from you again. Yes, Toyota seems to be making a meal of it. We have seen this with other well-funded teams too. Look at how much money was spent by BAR in the early years without getting anywhere. I am starting to wonder if it is not a case of skills. Over the years I have come to suspect that there are very few people that are capable of designing a winning car and they are not training others. If Toyota are forced to develop the car by trial and error it could explain why they are taking so long. With the games that Bernie and Max are playing the sport is already at risk. This is a bad time to fiddle with tradition and culture too. I think it is sad when greed and power overwhelms the love for the sport. The only thing that will make Bernie happy is money. If I were him I would be worried about spending what I already have – he does not have that much longer before senility sets in (unless it already has) so he better start spending.
