11 out of 12 for Michael Schumacher. That is just amazing!
His only threat was Kimi Raikkonen and that threat only lasted 13 laps, he
cruised from then onwards. Jenson Button has a superb drive to finish second
ahead of Fernando Alonso and David Coulthard. Juan Pablo Montoya was 5th ahead
of an impressive Mark Webber while Antonio Pizzonia and Takuma Sato round up
the top 8.
A few of the highlights,
An engine change for Jenson Button and a rear wing failure on Kimi
Raikkonen's car robbed us of a tight fight at the front. Once again
everything falls into place for the 6 time World Champion. By contrast
Rubens Barrichello was nowhere. Even considering the fact that he had to
pit for a new front wing, he should have finished in the points given the
car he had.
Jenson Button drove a superb race and starting from 13th he ended up
second. He would have certainly been challenging Michael had he started
from where he qualified. Team-mate Takuma Sato wasn't impressive and just
managed to score 1 point.
Fernando Alonso drove a good race and managed to finish 3rd after
starting from 6th. It was exciting to watch him battling with Button.
Trulli on the other hand didn't perform and his announcement about leaving
the team at the end of the season must have something to do with it.
David Coulthard finished 4th, one or two spot higher than his usual
finishing place. That could be because he has a better car or because
Raikkonen retired!.
Raikkonen on the other hand could have won the race or it least it would
have been very close but his bad luck continues or perhaps it is true that
the car cannot handle someone as fast as Kimi!.
It is encouraging though to see the McLaren perform well.
Juan Pablo Montoya disappointed with his performance in the race. After
a strong qualifying he dropped from 2nd and finished 5th. Pizzonia did
reasonably well finishing 7th something Marc Gene failed to achieve in 2
races for the team.
Mark Webber continues his impressive run finishing in the points for the
second race in a row. Expect the Williams announcement soon!
Once again the TV coverage was very good with a lot of focus on the
fights on the track whichever position they were.

What others are saying:
That was another fun race to watch. But again, it's the
coverage that makes it fun. There were a lot of great races in the mid-field,
and this time we got to watch them.
For the first time I'm willing to admit that Coulthard didn't look good. He
knows how to sell it though! Did you see those half hearted attempts at the
end to pass Alonso for 3rd ? He was swerving around like he wanted a piece of
Fernando when Fernando's car was mis-behaving for a few laps. They were
running in the mid-118's for a couple of laps, and Coulthard couldn't pass
him. Anyone else in that car could have passed him. Even Olivier Panis!
I like what you bring up about Kimi being too fast for the car. I don't think
him being too fast had anything to do with his wing cracking, but I think
there's something to be said for that.
I definitely think that JPM & Ralphy are too fast for that Williams. Juan
can push that car for a few laps, but he can't do it consistently, because the
car won't put up with it. If I was Ralph, I wouldn't get back into that car
this season. He has nothing to gain !
It looks like the new Toyota is quicker, judging from their lap times. But
they can't seem to get it right. I think having Ralph and Jarno in those cars
is going to make a big difference. Congratulations to you again Michael, But
do me a favor. Don't do that stupid jump you did on the podium this week. You
looked like a girl. If you have to jump, stick to your usual jump !

Well, apart from Schumacher driving off into the distance as
usual, this was quite an interesting and encouraging race.
Big pity about Kimi's rear wing - and quite amusing that he was more
disappointed with losing the opportunity to win than the fact he got out of
that shunt in 1 piece!
There were so many great battles going on all over the track it was amazing -
now we just need to see this at the front instead of everywhere else.
What might have been if not for Jenson's engine swap and Kimi's wing.
Wonder how Mr Pizzonia feels after his outburst claiming preferential
treatment against him at Jaguar - seeing Webber finish just ahead of him was
quite funny all things considered - never put pressure like that on yourself
Antonio! :)
Looking forward to next race and next season - hope we hear something about
Webber at Williams soon. Question is, who else will be there? Antonio? Gene?
From what I've seen both had chances and failed to impress. Trulli? ..........

As a F1
affectionada I lately only check the results after the race and if the little
kraut won I do not even bother to watch the replay of the race. F1 is becoming
the most boring race to watch for the last couple of years and if something is
not done to make the races more exciting F1 is doomed but having said that I
hope Honda will get something to compete and maybe then I and a lot of other
people will watch F1 again.
Even the roundy rounders are more of a race. Just my opinion - Jake H -
