What others are saying

Once again Michael Schumacher comes up with the goods and wins the race. His closest competition either retired (both Renaults) or were excluded (Ralf Schumacher). His team-mate may have had a chance but yet again it seems that we are not going to see a genuine fight between the 2 Ferraris until both Championships are secured.

A few highlights;

  • Despite starting from 6th and 7th, the Ferraris finished 1st and 2nd!

  • Jenson Button managed to finish 3rd but BAR appeared before the race as having a shot at winning. Sato continues to blow up the Honda engine!

  • Giancarlo Fisichella continues to impress finishing 4th in the Sauber. Of course he benefited from the Williams exclusion and the Renault retirements.

  • Both McLaren's finished the race to the surprise of many. 5th and 6th was only possible due to the retirement and exclusion of many cars.

  • Jordan lucked out as well with rookie Glock scoring 2 points in his first ever race while Heidfeld scored a point too!

  • Renault were the only team that had a chance to take it to the Ferraris especially given that they were on a similar strategy to Ferrari. Yet both cars retire with car problems, a first for them this season. Lets hope they are not pushing the development too fast compromising reliability.

  • The exclusion of both Williams and Toyota due to their air ducts not conforming is tough on both teams. Perhaps Toyota can be excused as they are a new team but Williams ? They should have known better.

What others are saying:

Yes.. the Ferrari's were racing.. thats a bit like saying McLaren still have a shot at the Constructors Championship - Tom H - USA

That must be the worst feeling. To go out and test, and prepare, race your heart out, risk your life. And at the end of the day, someone says DIS-QUALIFIED. And the record books won't even know you were there.
Honda seems to have stepped backwards. Sato was his usual stupid self, but Button wasn't good either. He was losing ground to Montoya at the end pretty rapidly. Perhaps it was Montoya's extra cool brakes against Button's fading brakes?
Fisichella looks good, as does Sauber. Massa's wreck was scary. When a wheel is lose and someone hits a barrier that hard, it just reminds me of Senna's wreck.
Montoya played with Michael for a lap or two. That was pretty funny actually. He would have felt dumb had he forced Michael into a mistake and then had to come in and pit right away.
The biggest complaint I had with the race was the Speed channel coverage. The only time I saw anything but the leaders, was if they wrecked, or spun. Or Michael lapped them.
I never saw McLaren, or Toyota, or even Button. All the information on those teams either came from the Inter-net, or when they flashed the running order on the screen.
I wish Rubens would have passed Michael, and just let Michael pass him back. The would be fun, and what's wrong with fun ? John N - USA
