British Grand Prix Page

Ferrari dominated the whole weekend with the exception of Qualifying were Juan Pablo Montoya managed to get in front.
Of course the changing conditions helped Ferrari and the Bridgestone runners during the race. 

A few highlights:
Michael Schumacher's 60th win, he could wrap up the championship by next race!
Rubens impressive form coming from 21st to 2nd in under 20 laps.
Juan Pablo Montoya finishing 3rd on the same lap despite being on an inferior tyre.
Kimi Raikkonen pace in the wet on Michelin tyres was exceptional.
McLaren's disastrous pit stop strategy in changing conditions.
BAR scoring 5 points after 9 races without a result!

The race was...um...very different. Stupid that Schumacher won again and very dimwitted mistakes (David). 
Montoya and all the Michelins sucked up the field for a massively boring race - Josh - Australia

I was there and hoped for rain (I was in a covered Grandstand!). I knew this would create a really good race which it did, but... the rain in particular seemed to catch out many teams. The rain also seemed to show the difference between the performance of Michelin tyres verses Bridgestone (Michelin have some work to do on their intermediates!). It also showed how the introduction of traction control has changed F1, as it surely prevented quite a few drivers from making mistakes. I was impressed with Montoya but very very disappointed in both McLaren and Renault (they must be very embarrassed right now). - Linda B - England

A fantastic race to watch, it had everything. Rain is supposed to be the great leveller, but still the Ferrari's march on and on and on. I don't believe tyres made that much difference, yes they did make a difference, but even Bridgestone shod cars where blown away by the Fab Ferrari's. This was a team win more than anything, the Todt and Brawn factor came into play and no mistakes made.
Montoya and Rubens where fantastic to watch. And Juan's fourth consecutive pole was just more icing on the cake.

So much for "the over-taking" problem! Rubens moves up 20 places; Villeneuve & Panis 13 places between them, and Fisi and Pedro driving less than competitive machines manage 10 places each! That's 53 over takings and that doesn't count ALL of them. 
Except for the predictable big red one in front, it was wild and it was fun. Maybe they should try to have "variable" weather at all the venues. 
On the down side, why is it so hard to find a fool-proof fuelling method?!?! I'd say that the F1 pit crews should go to school to CART and IRL --except THEY can't seem to keep the wheels on their machines! Maybe they don't pay F1 crews enough? 
Talk about Blue Monday --I'm sure glad I don't have to report to work to face Sir Frank at Williams!! Getting pushed by BAR, of all people, must be especially provoking. And what do you suppose they are saying back at Toyota headquarters? Maybe they should combine their billions with Ford [Jag]'s and form AJAR [Asian-Jaguar-American-Racing]? 
I remember back in my racing bike days, we used to say that "Yama haw-hawed," but if you really wanted to move you said "HON DAAAAAhhh!" Toyota seem to be stuttering - Jim W - USA

In this race Ferrari proved yet again that they have the best overall package. Williams could be a lot closer and give Ferrari a run for their money if it were not for the Michelin tyre disadvantage - witness David Coulthard water skiing around Silverstone! 
If Michelin can close the gap to Bridgestone for the start of next season it will certainly make things much more interesting and give Ralf, Montoya and Williams a real chance of challenging for the title - Martin G - UK
