Yes Williams will dominate from now on, I'm sorry but history has a way of
repeating itself and I think they are due. They have changed the width of the
front tyres by going to 14 inches but at the loss of some aero efficiency, you
may have noticed they now don't understeer as much and boom there they go.
Silverstone they will probably go one two but not totally dominate because of
the slight aero deficiency. The Heretic replies: Hi Cooky, Well with 20-20 hindsight it looks as if Bridgestone have finally come to the party. Now, of course, the issue is: did they build the tyres for Silverstone only? We will just have to see. Williams are getting stronger, but I suspect that their power advantage (certainly over Ferrari) is being whittled away. They will need Michelin to come up with some compound that will let them go back to their earlier tyre configuration. The extra drag needs to be eliminated for them to have a shot at getting dominant. Ferrari, on the other hand may have designed their car to specific tyre performance. I am sure that they would have spent hours discussing this during the design phase but for whatever reason Bridgestone could not get up to that spec. They have been there before when McLaren were blowing back tyres in the early days of “the big downforce” and they recovered from that, so it is just a matter of time. I absolutely agree with you: the F2003GA is the fastest car on the circuit today. Michelin has by far the better tyre in hot or dry weather. Either way, it makes the season exciting. When last did we see that much overtaking in one race (face it, when last did we see that much overtaking in one season)? Back to Top |
