A week ago I would have strongly argued that McLaren had a little bad luck
at Australia, after all Kimi did come from the back to finish third, a
remarkable achievement. But after having both cars go south during the
Malaysian Grand Prix I now have to think that McLaren have a major problem
with reliability. True, the only other car to blow an engine was a Ferrari
(how often does that happen?), but that's three times in two races for
McLaren. If they loose a car in Brazil, then I think their season is pretty
much over. They may be able to pressure Ferrari and Williams and possibly even
win a few races, but I'm beginning to think Sauber has a better chance of challenging
than McLaren.
This saddens me because I am a David Coulthard fan. He needs a fast, reliable
car and so far this season he has not gotten it. In a perfect world DC would
replace MS at Ferrari (file that under never) and then win a
championship.
So far it has been an interesting season. I hope it keeps up! -

4-04 - Is McLaren on the way down ?)
The Heretic replies:
Jeff,
At least David can hope for improvement during the season
and a chance at competing next year. Villeneuve will retire before BAR has a
car.
