Dear Heretic, A couple of points. I think Prost has a
smaller budget than Minardi. My emotions tell me that McLaren and D.C. will
be in the championship hunt this year with Ferrari finishing second and
Williams third. The Heretic replies: I must agree with you. When you are going bust by definition you have the smallest budget. I am sure that they have however managed to set aside a big enough budget to ensure that they can afford the 1,273 tints that are required to ensure that the blue paint is very French. This may be their problem – I would be more concerned with the driveability and speed of the car, but who am I to judge? Sure, statistically Ferrari will still be dominant. Schumacher is the most competent and experienced driver. Theoretically and practically they must be the team to beat (and I said so) BUT: What they are planning (if the rumours are true) may pay off but is seriously risky. To me it sounds like a brave move into uncharted territory – it could go either way. As you say they can fall back on last year’s car but if this year’s cars are as much faster again as they were last year it will not make Ferrari competitive. You could be right, easily, but if I am right it would be a lot more fun to watch towards the end of the season. Back to Top Loading
