number of readers have sent in their reviews and comments about the race
and we have decided to publish some. Yaman from India writes: The European GP Michael Schumacher held off a charging Ralf Schumacher in the early stages of the race to win his 5th GP of the year. Michael had dominated qualifying and was determined to be the better of the brothers after losing out to Ralf in Montreal. Juan Pablo Montoya was under a lot of pressure and he showed that he could thrive under that pressure as he outraced David Coulthard to the chequered flag grabbing second position. This was only his second finish of the year and consequently finished second for the second time. Coulthard finished third ahead of Ralf who had been penalised with a stop-go penalty for crossing the white line on the exit of the pits. Rubens Barrichello finished 5th ahead of Mika Hakkinen in a highly unimpressive 6th, collecting just 1 point. Coulthard now is 24 points behind Schumacher and is losing any chance of beating him as the races go by. In fact Williams are now seemingly much much better than the McLaren's who have slipped to 41 points behind the Ferrari team and are just 16 points ahead of the Grove outfit in the Constructors' championship. As for Mika Hakkinen, I personally don't think he has much of a chance to make much of a showing this season. With 9 pts from 9 races he has lost any chance of winning the Drivers' championship. He has no motivation now and that is clearly visible. Barrichello remains fourth in the championship but for how long I cannot say. Magny Cours is a few days away. With a gap of just a week between the two GP's I don't expect McLaren to really improve so expect Williams and Ferrari to collect the first 3 places in France. |
