What others are saying:
Ferrari is pushing the limits ... they need to work on
speed -- w/downforce ... comes down to this ... how many fast tracks left (McLaren) and
how many high down force tracks are left (Ferrari) - Jimmy M - USA
I don't think Ferrari fans should worry just yet. Both
Michael and Ferrari still have the lead in their respective championships. The reliability
of the car is still excellent but they must continue to work on it. Ferrari's main problem
is their speed. They must also work on developments in engine and aerodynamics to help
keep them close enough to the two McLaren cars. We must not forget that Ferrari didn't
really win the first three races, it was more a case of McLaren losing them. Personally I
believe that Ferrari will win the constructor's title but in terms of the driver's it will
be either Schumacher or Coulthard with Hakkinen taking over as Driver Number 2 at McLaren
- Adam B. - Australia.
The battle between Ferrari and McLaren will go on all
season. The advantage will shift back and forth and the out come will be decided at the
last race. David will win the championship. The big winners are the fans - Robert
D. - Canada.
Of Course Ferrari will bounce back. Michael Schumacher's
talent is not matched by any other driver currently on the grid. Ferrari reliability has
been rock solid over the past 2 seasons and they are bound to have a failure at least once
or twice a season. From now on Michael will have no problems with his car and will have
the title wrapped up by Indianapolis, As for Coulthard a bit late now to be showing what
he can do. Where was he the past 4 years at McLaren? asleep! He gets one or 2 good results
and Whoooa - Coulthard is going to be a world champion.. Give me a break its only an
excuse to get at Michael, look at the way he is treated by the British press if he makes a
mistake or defends his position he is called a 'cheat' and a 'sore looser' All because he
is 100 times better than Coulthard and the British press just won't admit It. But if
Coulthard does something wrong oh but what's said then ???? absolutely nothing ...here's
to Michael Schumacher - 2000 Formula 1 world Champion - Anthony C - Ireland.
I have had the feeling that McLaren had the upper hand over
the last few races, in France it was obvious for all to see that (at least on that track
on that day) that it is the superior machine.
For my money Ferrari had better be doing rain dances before each race from here on in
otherwise, Coulthard, who has improved greatly will be the new World Champion - Dunder
- Hong Kong.
The battle between the Ferrari's and McLaren's has always
been around for years. Although McLaren claim they have the faster car, but the pole
positions have shown that the Ferraris are not behind.
Michael Schumacher, is no doubt, an excellent driver, one in his own class.
Barrichello is also shaping up very well, finishing on the podium a few times.
Ferrari should be able to bounce back and claim both the driver's and constructor's
championship - J W - Singapore.
Ferrari made many plans for Magny-Cours, with multiple
back-ups, yet they still failed to deliver the goods. It is my belief that they need to
work more on technique - i.e. pit stops - and the cars themselves, as the McLarens cars
are superior in many ways, not the least in the high braking speeds. On reliability alone,
McLaren is definitely my choice. But Michael's and Rubens' driving ability should be more
than enough to compensate for this, especially with Hakkinen's somewhat lacklustre and
half-hearted attempts to regain form - Callista - Australia.
Reliability is one of the main factors in a race. The
McLaren's were unreliable at the beginning of the season. After a superb race at the
Nurburgring by Michael Schumacher; David Coulthard, Mika Hakkinen and Ron Dennis, with
worried looks on their faces commented that they hope that Ferrari faces reliability
problems too.
Since according to them, reliability problems will strike at least twice, Michael already
has his fair share of them. So my verdict ? Ferrari will bounce back and win both titles.
Of course they will have to brush up on their pit stop techniques - Vic -
Malaysia.
I think that Ferrari is having one of their best years in a
very long time. Michael Schumacher's car failure does not necessarily mean reliability
problems.
This will be the year that both Ferrari and Schumacher will make their dreams come true - Panicos
P. - Cyprus.
I think Ferrari must be very careful, because they donīt
appear to be as consistent as McLaren in terms of pit stops efficiency and now
reliability. They have a lot of work to do to if they want to win the championship - Jorge
L. - Costa Rica.
I don't think Ferrari are suffering from reliability
problems. The engine failure was the first in more than a year for Ferrari which is an
excellent record. Sure they are pushing to the limit but every F1 team is.
I don't have any doubt that Ferrari will come back stronger
than ever reminding us of the reliability record they had last year - Fred D. -
Australia.
