I have to admit that I'm not pleased with the
performances Ferrari has been showing for the last couple of races.
I guess all Ferrari fans feel the same. But it's not fair for you to say
they have lost because "Ferrari have forgotten how to setup, plan and
think during races". (Reference Heretic
3-10).
Look back to Austria last year and we will see Ferrari again having trouble
setting up for the race. Most of us feel the problem is that we have seen
Schumacher and Ferrari being on the top of almost everything that we have
forgotten that they can't win every time.
There will be bad races (and I certainly hope that this was as bad as it can
get for them) and there will be good races. But I believe that one time or
another, we will see those Ferraris showing well again. They didn't win both
Championships last year
for nothing.
Another thing that irks me is the fact that when other teams are doing
poorly, you just say its a kind of bug that you hope will disappear soon, or
that maybe its just a setup problem that you hope they can fix before the
next race or its just the norm for some teams. Its always the same old thing
even though it'll be like that for the rest of the season. But here comes
Ferrari fresh from a double title victory. They win the first two, lost the
next two.
Next thing we know, you'll be criticizing them big time for whatever failure
happened, saying that their pit strategy is wrong...yada, yada, yada.
They may have made a not so good strategy as in Japan of last year. Teams
will always go through that. Of course Ferrari prides themselves in having
the best of the lot what with Ross Brawn with them. But even the best will
falter one time or another. It's part of what makes Formula1 so fun!
Ferrari will always be one of F1's best known teams and Schumacher will
always be one of F1's best drivers. Just as Sir Frank Williams said of
Button recently "It's very easy for people to forget what happened last
year in a fast moving business like this,... that sort of talent doesn't
just go away".
Let's not forget Ferrari's and Schumacher's record breaking season last
year. They'll find a way to make this great big boulder on the road into
another triumph. They always do - Reese - Philippines.
The Heretic replies:
Reese,
Ferrari screwed up their set up or race strategy twice in two races when I
have never seen them do this before. One of these races were run on a damp
and wet track where Schumacher has always been king.
True, I do not acknowledge them as much as the other teams when they do well
- but then when McLaren were on top they got as little from me. Our readers
get bored with me constantly talking about the skill of Schumacher, Brawn
and Ferrari just as much as you would if it was McLaren. When I was bagging
McLaren I had as many loyal supporters get on my case.
Just so you would not accuse me of the Yada Yada again: I believe that they
still have an edge over McLaren, I believe that Schumacher is better than
both McLaren drivers, BUT Williams/Ralf/Montoya may suddenly be the team to
beat.
But if they get their set up or strategy wrong again I will be yada-ing:
It is my job! And you are welcome to write again.
I always like to get well thought out comments and yours certainly were -
thank you.

Heretic
