Dear Heretic You almost have it right (Pace
car Villeneuve strikes again!), except that the Montreal track is one of the few
that actually has several passing locations. The race was interesting because the
procession behind Villenuves's car should have been able to make a move or two. Later in the day I watched the Detroit Grand Prix and what
a difference. Tracy moved up from 20th to 8th before his weekly troubles began. CART cars
bump bang and force passes all the time and while race purists may scoff it's entertaining
for the fans. The Pace Car plays it's part and turns it into several sprint races within a
race increasing the interest. I have no answer for F1 except they need more teams with
longer races and smaller fuel tanks. Jason J - Canada The Heretic replies: I suspect that all drivers realise that losing a wing could kill them. That knowledge will stop anyone from trying to overtake. I also suspect that today's F1 car handles like a floor polisher as soon as it gets into any turbulence and it trails massive turbulence for some 15 car lengths behind it at full speed. The FIA got it wrong and are reluctant to admit it. CART has many touches that do not end in disaster. F1 seems to end someone's race every time two cars touch. I also expected to see a reasonable amount of overtaking in Canada, and was very disappointed that even there it seemed impossible. They are going to have to change the regulations. It
may make them Thanks for the feedback, I love your sense of humour. Back to Top |
