57 min: Kimi Raikkonen improves again moving into 7th with a time of 1:19.108. 

56 min: Davidson improves in 20th with a time of 1:22.055. He is over a second slower than Webber at this stage! 

56 min: Kimi Raikkonen takes 9th from de la Rosa with a 1:19.278. 

55 min: Such a gap between the 2 Jaguar drivers. de la Rosa is in 9th with a time of 1:19.390 while Irvine is in 17th with a 1:20.405.  

54 min: Michael Schumacher responds by improving but fails to takes first place back. Felipe Massa takes 4th with a time of 1:18.745. 

53 min: Rubens Barrichello goes fastest with a time of 1:17.122. Fisichella takes 3rd back with a time of 1:18.452. 

52 min: Jenson Button takes 10th with a time of 1:19.453. Barrichello on a flyer! 

52 min: Mark Webber moves into 18th with a time of 1:21.027. He is ahead of McNish and Davidson now!

46 min: Felipe Massa improves again and moves ahead of his team-mate Nick Heidfeld with a 1:19.299 in 6th.

45 min: Villeneuve takes 10th from Raikkonen with a 1:19.934.

45 min: Davidson sets a time faster than Webber with a 1:22.247. That would be a change for Webber!

44 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Barrichello, Fisichella, R Schumacher, Panis, Heidfeld, Sato, Massa, de la Rosa and Raikkonen.

43 min: Felipe Massa moves back into the top 10 with a 1:19.683..

42 min: Davidson has covered the most number of laps so far with 16 and he is only 0.6 seconds behind Mark Webber. That is an encouraging start.

41 min: Raikkonen jumps into 10th with a time of 1:19.939.

40 min: Raikkonen moves into 16th with a time of 1:20.364. That is a slow time from the young Finn.

39 min: Heidfeld and Sato improve again moving into 6th and 7th respectively!

38 min: Under the current conditions, it looks like the track conditions favour Bridgestone with 7 runners in the top 10.

37 min: Heidfeld and Sato move back into the top 10. In 8th and 9th respectively.

37 min: Only Raikkonen has to set a time and he is on the track.

36 min: Both Minardis improves their times and they are now within the 107% of the fastest time.

35 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Barrichello, Fisichella, R Schumacher, Panis, Massa, de la Rosa, Button, Coulthard and Trulli.

34 min: David Coulthard moves into 9th with a time of 1:20.014.

33 min: An impressive time from Fisichella as he moves into 3rd with a time of 1:18.980. Still over 1.4 seconds behind Michael!

33 min: Rubens Barrichello responds to Michael and moves into second with a time of 1:17.618.

32 min: Mark Webber sets his first time of the day, a 1:22.988. That is a second faster than his new team-mate Davidson. Coulthard on track!

31 min: A stunning time from Michael Schumacher. A 1:17.554. That is over 1.5 seconds faster than anyone else!

31 min: Fisichella moves into 5th with a time of 1:19.604. Michael on a flyer!

30 min: Rubens Barrichello takes 3rd with a time of 1:19.209. Fisichella fast!

30 min: Juan Pablo Montoya improves again into 8th with a 1:20.126. Barrichello on a flyer!

29 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Panis, Massa, de la Rosa, Button, Villeneuve, Salo, Montoya and Heidfeld.

28 min: Panis takes third from Massa with a 1:19.317

28 min: Michael Schumacher goes fastest with a time of 1:18.838 on his first timed lap!.

27 min: Montoya's first time is a slow 1:22.428 and moves in 11th. Massa takes second with a 1:19.709.

26 min: Pedro de la Rosa goes third with a time of 1:20.043. Michael Schumacher on track!

26 min: Olivier Panis improves into second with a time of 1:19.728 

25 min: Mika Salo moves into second with a time of 1:20.141. Ralf improves in 1st with a 1:19.193. Montoya on track. 

25 min: Panis moves into 3rd with a time of 1:20.316. Salo fast! 

24 min: Panis returns to the track and so do the 2 Toyota drivers and the 2 Jaguar drivers! 

23 min: Top 6 - R Schumacher, Heidfeld, Sato, Massa, Villeneuve and Davidson. 

23 min: Ralf Schumacher gets it right the second time around and goes fastest with a time of 1:19.321 

22 min: And Heidfeld goes faster with a 1:20.871 

22 min: Felipe Massa takes second with a 1:21.887. 

21 min: Meanwhile Villeneuve improves in second with a 1:21.932. 

21 min: Ralf locks up and goes off but recovers! 

20 min: It will be interesting to see how quick the Williams is here. Ralf starts his first flyer. Both Heidfeld and Massa are on the track too. 

19 min: Villeneuve sets a time of 1:24.037. Meanwhile Sato improves again with a 1:20.688. Ralf Schumacher on the track. 

18 min: But Panis seems to have a problem as he slows down and heads into the pits! 

18 min: Both BAR drivers start their first timed laps of the weekend. It will be interesting to see how they compare to Sato in the Honda powered Jordan. 

17 min: Jacques Villeneuve is also on the track. He has been rumoured to be considering a return to CART but he has more or less ruled it out. 

16 min: Olivier Panis exits the pits as both Sato and Davidson continue to improve their times. 

15 min: Only 2 drivers on the track so far and the 2 Ferraris have yet to complete an installation lap. 

14 min: And so does Davidson with a 1:25.556. 

13 min: Takuma Sato improves with a 1:21.667. 

12 min: Anthony Davidson sets a  time of 1:26.803. This is his first ever timed lap in Formula 1! 

11 min: And Sato sets a time of 1:24.139. Davidson on his first flyer! 

10 min: Takuma Sato starts his first timed lap. 

9 min: And so does Anthony Davidson in the Minardi. Neither of these drivers have driven a Formula 1 car around this track before. 

8 min: Takuma Sato is the first driver to return to the track for a longer run.  

7 min: No one driver has returned to the track yet. 

5 min: No cars on the track at this stage. There is some light rain falling on parts of the track but it is not enough to wet the track. 

3 min: Jenson Button takes his Renault onto the track. 

1 min: With the exception of the 2 Ferraris and Button, all the cars are on the track. 

Session underway and a stream of cars head out onto the track headed by Sato with Davidson in the Minardi right behind him. 

Sadly the Arrows team won't be racing today as they haven't yet sorted out their financial problems. Alex Yoong will not be racing here for Minardi as he is replaced by BAR's test driver Anthony Davidson after Yoong failed to qualify for 3 races this season. It will be interesting to see if Davidson can push Webber. Session starting in 2 minutes. 

Following a 3 week break with no testing or racing, the teams return to this tight and twisty track. Overtaking is nearly impossible and the race will be decided on qualifying positions and pit stop strategy. Although we may see a few surprises, it is expected that Ferrari will be very quick while Williams and McLaren will have to rely on their Michelin tyres to try and match Ferrari. Session starting in 5 minutes.
