Cars forming back on the grid

All the cars get away without problems.

Formation lap underway!

Track temperature at 20 degrees. Air Temperature at 17 degrees. Formation lap in 2 minutes

Ferrari look strong here at their first of two home races. Williams are their main threat while McLaren will have to settle for 3rd unless there is drama at the front. Renault and Sauber will be fighting for fourth and we'll have to see how the latest evolution Honda engine will perform under race conditions. Formation lap in 5 minutes.

It is not drizzling any more. That would be a relief for the Michelin runners who struggle under wet and cold conditions. There are a few dark clouds though that look threatening. Formation lap in 10 minutes.

The pit lane has now closed. It appears that all the cars have made it to the grid without problems. Formation lap in 15 minutes.

For the first time this season, one driver will not start after failing to Qualify and that is Minardi's driver Alex Yoong. Takuma Sato failed to qualify in Australia but was allowed to race due to exceptional circumstances. This time the stewards rightly rejected Minardi's appeal to allow Yoong to start as there were no exceptional circumstances. Formation lap in 15 minutes.

Michael Schumacher starts from Pole with his team-mate Rubens Barrichello alongside him. Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya make it a Williams second row while Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard are on the 3rd row. Formation lap in 20 minutes.

There is a bit of drizzle at the moment!. The pit exit has opened and the cars have 15 minutes to form on the grid.

Formation lap at 2:00 PM local time. The weather is partly cloudy with a temperature of 18 degrees.
