GP - 2nd Saturday Practice Session
Michael Schumacher sets the fastest time of the session ahead of David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen. Rubens Barrichello, Nick Heidfeld, Kimi Raikkonen, Olivier Panis, Ralf Schumacher, Jarno Trulli and Pedro de la Rosa make the top 10. 45 min: Session over with no changes in the top 6. Hakkinen tries too hard and ends up in the gravel! 45 min: Almost all the cars are on the track in the final minute. Pedro de la Rosa takes 10th from Villeneuve. 44 min: Jenson Button takes 18th place from his team-mate. 44 min: Jarno Trulli improves in 9th place with a time of 1:17.618. Villeneuve moves into the top 10 with a time of 1:17.937 43 min: Coulthard doesn't improve while Mika Hakkinen pits. 42 min: David Coulthard on a flyer as Irvine improves in 10th place. 41 min: Tarso Marques improves in 22nd. He is 0.5 seconds slower than his team-mate. 40 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Coulthard, Hakkinen, Barrichello, Heidfeld, Raikkonen, Panis, R Schumacher, Trulli and Irvine. 39 min: Alesi spins and stalls on the track. Hakkinen doesn't improve. 38 min: Mika Hakkinen on a fast lap! 37 min: Raikkonen takes 6th just behind Heidfeld, the Sauber pair are back together now! 36 min: Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen go out on the track. Nick Heidfeld takes 5th from Panis. 35 min: With 10 minutes to go, Olivier Panis takes 5th place with a time of 1:17.284. Villeneuve improves to 12th. 34 min: Juan Pablo Montoya improves in 12th place but remains over 2 seconds off the pace. 33 min: Currently, 1 second separates the top 4, 2 seconds separate the top 11 and 3 seconds separate the top 17. 32 min: Villeneuve is back on the track. Panis is back on the track. 19 min: Montoya returns to the track, he is currently in 20th place 17 min: Ricardo Zonta is off into the gravel after setting his best time so far. He has covered just over 20 laps in preparation for qualifying this afternoon. Tough luck. 16 min: Ricardo Zonta has moved right behind Trulli in 12th place with a time of 1:18.595. 15 min: Despite Villeneuve managing to go out on the track, it appears that BAR are still having problems. Panis has yet to go out this session! 13 min: Only 3 cars are on the track at this stage with Michael Schumacher, Nick Heidfeld and Enrique Bernoldi 12 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Hakkinen, Coulthard, Barrichello, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Irvine, Heidfeld, de la Rosa and Panis. 11 min: Kimi Raikkonen jumps into 5th place!. Michael Schumacher on a flyer! 4 min: Jacques Villeneuve already jumps to 15th with a time of 1:19.535. 3 min: Ricardo Zonta didn't do too bad in the first session finishing 13th not too far behind Trulli in 11th. 2 min: More drivers joins the action on the track with Coulthard, Button and Fisichella Session underway and Ralf Schumacher goes out on the track followed by Jacques Villeneuve who lost valuable time today and yesterday Hakkinen, Coulthard and Michael Schumacher were separated by under a 10th of a second in the 1st session. Their times are stunning clocking under the 1:17 mark!. Villeneuve on the other hand continues his bad luck failing to complete a single flying lap in the 1st session.
