Belgian GP - Race:

Michael Schumacher wins his 52nd Grand Prix and breaks the record of the most number of career wins. Coulthard is second ahead of Fisichella, Hakkinen, Barrichello and Alesi.

Lap 36: Final lap and Ralf is fighting Alesi for that 6th place.

Lap 35: Ralf Schumacher trying desperately to pass Jean Alesi without success.

Lap 34: Michael Schumacher now leads Coulthard by just 20 seconds as Michael slows down as he has a big gap with just a couple of laps to go.

Lap 33: Trulli retires with a blown engine! - It was looking good for Jordan!

Lap 32: Barrichello takes 6th from Alesi

Lap 32: Order - M Schumacher, Coulthard, Fisichella, Hakkinen, Trulli and Alesi.

Lap 29: Coulthard already 2 seconds ahead of Fisichella but is over half a minute behind Michael

Lap 28: Coulthard finally manages to get past Fisichella.

Lap 22: Update on Burti's situation. He has no broken bones but is suffering from a concussion. His condition is described as stable.

Lap 22: Villeneuve pits from 5th.

Lap 21: Coulthard remains stuck behind Fisichella. The Benetton has certainly improved.

Lap 20: Button crashes into the wall after losing his front wing going over the curb!

Lap 19: Barrichello finally pits after losing 4 places!

Lap 18: Barrichello lost his front wing at the bus stop! - what a bizarre race.

Lap 17: Frentzen pits for his only stop from 9th place.

Lap 16: Michael Schumacher increases the gap to Fisichella to 24 seconds! Coulthard is 0.7 seconds behind Fisichella.

Lap 15: Frentzen in 9th is the only driver in the top 10 on a single stop.

Lap 15: David Coulthard is now pushing Fisichella.

Lap 14: Michael Schumacher leads Fisichella by 22 seconds, Panis takes his 10 second penalty.

Lap 13: 10 second stop and go penalty for Panis as he crossed the white line. He currently is in 12th place.

Lap 13: Order - M Schumacher, Fisichella, Coulthard, Hakkinen, Barrichello and Trulli.
Retirements: de la Rosa, Heidfeld, Montoya, Raikkonen, Irvine, Burti and Alonso.

Lap 13: Fisichella pits and Michael retakes the lead.

Lap 12: Michael pits and is followed by Coulthard. Fisichella is leading the race !

Lap 11: Barrichello is behind Hakkinen and is trying to get past.

Lap 11: Villeneuve pits and so does Ralf Schumacher.

Lap 10: Barrichello pits, all the 2 stoppers are pitting as they were not allowed to re-fuel on the grid at the second start.

Lap 9: Fisichella is now 16 seconds behind Michael. It is amazing that Barrichello cannot pass the Benetton. 

Lap 8: Hakkinen and Panis pit, they are on 2 stops and they are not allowed to re-fuel on the grid at the second start.

Lap 8: Michael Schumacher leads Fisichella by 14 seconds!

Lap 7: Trulli pits and rejoins!

Lap 6: Villeneuve regains a position after passing Button.

Lap 3: Fisichella is clearly holding Barrichello but Barrichello is unable to pass. Michael Schumacher is increasing his lead..

Lap 3: Order - M Schumacher, Fisichella, Barrichello, Coulthard, Hakkinen, Button, Trulli, Alesi, Villeneuve and Panis.

Lap 2: Both de la Rosa and Heidfeld have retired after the touched.

Lap 2: Montoya retires with a blown engine - yet again!

Lap 2: Hakkinen gets ahead of Button.

Lap 1: Button at the start gets to 4th!

Race start: Michael Schumacher leads and Fisichella moves into 2nd ahead of Barrichello and Coulthard!

Lap 6 - The cars are now back on the grid and Ralf Schumacher will start from the back. The race is now treated as a new race with the number of laps covered already deducted. It is a 36 lap race.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: Grid position for 2nd race start - M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Barrichello, Hakkinen, Coulthard, Fisichella, Raikkonen, Villeneuve, Alesi and Button.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: Eddie Irvine has indicated that Burti is conscious. That is a relief.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: The race will now start in the same order on the prior lap to when it was stopped.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: The ambulance has left the track. The marshals are repairing the tyre wall.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: Burti is injured but the extent of injuries are not know at this stage.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: Burti is now in the ambulance.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: The cars are back on the grid waiting for the restart. Burti's condition is still unknown. This is a sad event.

Lap 6 - Red Flag: The race has been stopped.

Lap 6 - Safety Car: Ambulance on the track for Burti. His condition is not known at this stage. Let's hope he is OK.

Lap 5 - Safety Car: Burti seems to be injured. This was a big crash.

Lap 5 - Safety Car: Irvine is OK but Burti is still in the car as it hit the barrier at almost full speed.

Heinz Harald Frentzen and Juan Pablo Montoya will now start from the back of the gird. Tough luck indeed! 

Montoya stalls on the start of the 2nd formation lap!

This will give a slight advantage to Villeneuve who starts from 6th as he has an empty grid slot in front of him.

It must be hard for Frentzen after qualifying in 4th place, the best position a Prost has been in 2 years!

2nd Formation lap in 4 minutes. 

Race Start  - Aborted! Frentzen stalled and he will have to start from the back - Hard luck.

There is a bit of drizzle on parts of the track but the track is mainly dry at the moment but it could start raining heavily at any time. Formation lap in 2 minutes

Juan Pablo Montoya starts from Pole and alongside him is his team-mate Ralf Schumacher. Michael Schumacher is in 3rd with a surprise Heinz Harald Frentzen in 4th. Barrichello and Villeneuve make the top 6. Hakkinen is 7th and Coulthard is 9th. Formation lap in 5 minutes
