58 min: Top 6 remains the same with Barrichello ahead of Trulli, M Schumacher, Coulthard, de la Rosa, Verstappen.

55 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, Trulli, M Schumacher, Coulthard, de la Rosa, Verstappen, Frentzen, Fisichella, Villeneuve and Diniz.

53 min: Jarno Trulli takes 2nd from Michael Schumacher and only 0.030 seconds behind Rubens Barrichello.

52 min: Michael Schumacher improves his time but remains in 2nd only 0.186 seconds behind his teammate Rubens Barrichello.

50 min: Ten minutes remain in the first session and the top 6 remains the same but Frentzen moves into 7th place.

39 min: Rubens Barrichello goes fastest with a time of 1:25.360 while Coulthard moves to 3rd just behind Michael Schumacher. Ralph Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen and Giancarlo Fisichella are the only drivers not to set a time.

37 min: Top 6 - Michael Schumacher ahead of Pedro de la Rosa, Rubens Barrichello, David Coulthard, Jos Verstappen and Jacques Villeneuve.

35 min: Michael Schumacher goes fastest of all with a time of 1:25.648. Coulthard starts his first timed lap.

28 min: Eddie Irvine goes out on his first timed lap. Nick Heidfeld improved to 5th.

27 min: Villeneuve is 4th fastest on his 1st timed lap but over 2 seconds slower than de la Rosa

26 min: Pedro de la Rosa is fastest with a time of 1:25.912. Jacques Villeneuve goes out for his first timed lap.

25 min: Top 6 - Pedro de la Rosa, Verstappen, Gene, Mazzacane, Alesi and Herbert.

24 min: Jos Verstappen sets the fastest time so far on his first time lap with a time of 1:26.849. Pedro de la Rosa is on track as well.

23 min: Johnny Herbert sets a time of 1:29.300 for 5th fastest. Jos Verstappen goes out for his first timed lap.

21 min: Johnny Herbert goes out on his first timed lap.

20 min: Gaston Mazzacane sets the 3rd best time splitting the Prosts. Only 4 drivers have set times so far.

18 min: Marc Gene improves to 1:27.956. His teammate Gaston Mazzacane goes out on his first timed lap while Heinz Harald Frentzen goes out on his installation lap.

16 min: Jean Alesi improves his time to 1:28.546 but is still in 2nd while Heidfeld also improves his time but is still in 3rd.

15 min: Only 3 drivers have set timed laps so far with Marc Gene (1:28.280) ahead of Jean Alesi ahead of Nick Heidfeld

12 min: Nick Heidfeld sets a time of 1:29.701. Marc Gene goes out on his first timed lap.

11 min: Jean Alesi sets a time of 1:29.618

9 min: Jean Alesi is the first to go out for for a timed lap and is followed by his teammate Nick Heidfeld.

7 min: Pedro Diniz and Alexander Wurz go out on the track on their installation laps. Only the 2 Ferrari's and Frentzen are yet to complete an installation lap..

5 min: No driver has set a timed lap yet. Most drivers have completed their installation laps with the exception of the Ferrari pair!.

2 min: More drivers go out on their installation laps including Jacques Villeneuve and David Coulthard.

Session start: Several drivers go out on the track for their installation laps. Irvine is the first to go out followed by Zonta, Alesi and de la Rosa.

The modifications done to the track will slow down the lap times by up to 2 seconds. It will be interesting to see how fast the cars will be today compared to last year. Ralph Schumacher had the fastest time on Friday in 99 with a time of 1:24.507. Session underway!
